Enfield Personnel Work Quickly to Put Out Industrial Fire
A fire at a manufacturing company necessitated specialized materials to extinguish.
A late-morning fire at an Enfield manufacturer was controlled within a half hour by fast-responding firefighters.
At 11:54 a.m., the Shaker Pines Fire Department was dispatched to a working fire at Yankee Magcast at 243 Shaker Road, around the corner from the fire station.
Mutual aid from all five Enfield fire departments was dispatched with the original call, public information officer Mark Zarcaro said.

The company casts parts for the aircraft industry which are made from magnesium. Magnesium cannot be extinguished with water, so a Metal X compound must be used on this type of fire, Zarcaro said.
After the fire was deemed under control, units remained on the scene as the fire and building integrity were investigated, according to Zarcaro.
