ENFIELD, CT — Many familiar faces will be on the Republican side of the municipal ballot this November, as 10 of the 13 nominees for town council and the Board of Education currently hold seats. Candidate selections took place at a caucus Tuesday night in the council chambers at town hall.

District councilors Joe Bosco (1), Kelly Hemmeler (2) and Charlotte Riley (4) are all looking to retain their spots. District 3 councilor Donna Szewczak is not seeking re-election; Robert Chagnon, a member of the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission, will run for her seat.

At-large councilors Mike Ludwick, Joe Muller and Lori Unghire will again be on the ballot. Retired Police Chief Carl Sferrazza is not running for another term; seeking his spot will be Marie Pyznar, an alternate Inland Wetlands and Watercourses commissioner.

Acree, Cushman and Unghire were all appointed to fill school board resignations within the past year, following the resignations of Bill Salazar, Wendy Costa and Chris Rutledge, respectively.

Board of Education chairman Walter Kruzel will not be on the ballot, with his spot being taken by local accountant and political newcomer Theresa Meyer.
