Felony Charges Filed In May 2019 Crash In Enfield

A pursuit last May by state police in Somers crossed into Enfield, where a fleeing vehicle struck another and caused serious injuries.

ENFIELD, CT — A Massachusetts man involved in a state police pursuit last May which ended with a serious crash in the Scitico section of Enfield was brought to Enfield police headquarters Thursday to be served with a warrant listing numerous felony offenses.

John Castillo, 20, of Holyoke, was charged with first-degree assault, reckless driving and seven counts of first-degree reckless endangerment. Bond was set at $100,000, Police Chief Alaric Fox said.

He was transported to Enfield from a Massachusetts correctional facility, Fox said.

On May 21, 2018, a police pursuit began in Massachusetts, then worked into Somers where Connecticut State Police attempted to stop the vehicle before breaking off the pursuit. Moments later, just over the Enfield town line at Route 190 and Taylor Road, the fleeing vehicle collided with another, resulting in "serious injury," police said at the time.
