1 Dead as Fire Rips Through Enfield Multi-Family Home [UPDATED]
The early morning blaze briefly trapped some residents inside, and left one occupant dead, according to Enfield fire officials.
ENFIELD, CT — An overnight fire tore through a historic multi-family home in the Thompsonville section of Enfield early Friday morning, leaving one occupant dead and briefly trapping three other residents inside, fire officials said.
The blaze at 11 Alden Avenue was reported at 1:53 a.m. Emergency personnel responded quickly to the scene, but an occupant of an apartment on the second and third floors was found deceased, Capt. Scott Ellis said.
Three other persons inside that apartment were rescued by 2:15 a.m., said Mark Zarcaro, spokesman for the fire departments of Enfield. A lone resident in a first-floor unit evacuated himself, Ellis said.

The blaze was brought under control in about 90 minutes, after a second alarm was sounded during the call. Mutual aid from all five Enfield fire departments was received, as well as coverage assistance from the Suffield and Longmeadow (MA) fire departments, Ellis said.
A representative from the state medical examiner's office left the scene Friday around 1:30 p.m. with the deceased body, and the Connecticut State Police fire investigation and explosion unit was working in conjunction with the detective division of the Enfield Police Department on an investigation, Ellis said.
