Heroin Claims Another Young Life in Enfield
A teenage girl was found dead at a home in the Southwood Acres section of town.

ENFIELD, CT — A growing heroin epidemic claimed another young life in Enfield Saturday, with what is believed to be a fatal overdose killing a teenage girl, police said.
Around 12:47 p.m., police and emergency medical personnel responded to a home in the Southwood Acres section of southern Enfield. Upon arrival, responders found a 19-year-old girl deceased in the house, with a quantity of heroin packaging found nearby. The packaging was stamped with the word "HYPE," Police Chief Carl Sferrazza said.
The victim was not immediately identified.

"By all indications, this was a heroin overdose," Sferrazza said, adding this makes over 25 overdose fatalities in town in the past two years.
"Unfortunately, there is no sign of this problem receding," the chief said. "The depth and breadth of this tragedy affects all members of this community."
