On The Home Stretch In Enfield

ENFIELD, CT — With little time left in the 2020 election season, candidates were making their presence felt in Enfield this past weekend. In addition to last-minute literature drops and online Q&A sessions, two candidates held impromptu rallies.

On Sunday, November 1st, State Representative Carol Hall and a couple dozen of her supporters rallied in front of the old United Bank near the corner of Hazard Avenue and Elm Street. At the end of an election season that has had a much different feel due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some of the excitement of campaigns past could be felt as Hall’s team held signs and waved to cars passing by.

“We are very confident heading into Election Day” said Hall. “I’ve worked hard for the people of Enfield and East Windsor over these last four years. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to continue to represent their interests in Hartford for another two years.”

On the afternoon of Saturday, October 31st following an event in Colchester, Congressional Candidate Justin Anderson joined Mayor Mike Ludwick, Board of Education Chairman Walter Kruzel, District 4 Town Councilor Charlotte Riley and other supporters in front of the Country Diner on Hazard Avenue. Continuing his long-shot bid to unseat Congressman Joe Courtney, who has garnered over 60% of the vote in the last four elections, Anderson is hopeful the voters see the need for a change.

“There’s a lot of enthusiasm for Trump in the 2nd district and that has spilled over into my campaign,” said Anderson. “I think eastern Connecticut is ready to turn red.”

“Joe Courtney may be a nice guy, but he votes party-line 97% of the time,” continued Anderson. “He supported the impeachment of President Trump and his votes show support for the Democrat’s socialist agenda which is not a path America should head down.”

State Representative Carol Hall, first elected in 2016, is running for her 3rd term as State Representative in the 59th district encompassing parts of Enfield and East Windsor. She is running against Dr. Gerald “Jerry” Calnen.

Lt. Col. Justin Anderson, a veteran, an officer in the Army National Guard and a retired corrections officer, is running for US Congress in Connecticut’s 2nd Congressional District against Congressman Joe Courtney.
