The man fled in a vehicle which nearly struck an officer before crashing into a pole, police said.

ENFIELD, CT — A local man was arrested on charges of stalking, attempting to assault police officers and other crimes following an incident early Sunday.

Raymond F. Lee, 37, was charged with violation of a protective order, first-degree stalking, interfering with an officer, criminal attempt to commit assault on public safety personnel, second-degree breach of peace, reckless driving and violation of probation.

Police Chief Alaric Fox said police received a call from the Food Bag convenience store on Hazard Avenue in the Scitico section of town from a woman who said she was being stalked by Lee. When police arrived, Lee fled in a vehicle and nearly struck an officer, but after briefly eluding police, the vehicle crashed into a nearly pole.

As Lee exited the vehicle, he suffered some type of seizure, and was transported to an area hospital, where he was kept under guard. He was then released into police custody, Fox said.

Connecticut State Police Troop C had several warrants for Lee's arrest, with bonds totaling roughly $750,000, Fox said. No information about those cases was immediately available.
