Parkway Pavilion Celebrates Nursing Home Week
National Nursing Home Week Celebrated at Parkway Pavilion Health & Rehabilitation with a Reflection Back to the 1960's
National Nursing Home Week was celebrated the week of May 12 with 1960’s themed celebrations.
Mother’s Day was celebrated with a tribute to Mom’s and entertainment by Rick Sylvester. Throughout the week resident’s enjoyed Sixties Trivia, Sixties TV, Sixties Concert and a fabulous barbecue. The 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing and Woodstock were also recognized and residents were treated to Moon Pies.
A highlight of week was the Volunteer Luncheon where volunteers were recognized for the joy they bring to Parkway residents and staff. As Diane Sokol, Recreation Director for Parkway Pavilion stated in her remarks “It is people like you that bring the joy to us and help us feel groovy on a daily basis.” Volunteer Service Awards were given to Simone Fowler for 25 years of service; Cathy Crouch for 15; Albert Desrosiers, Pam Goguen, Annette Klinkowski and Nancy Smith for 10 years; Marie Pyznar and Linda Smith for 5 years and Sandie Degreenia, Dot Cayouette, Jamie Bebee, Ron DiNallo, Angie Minnocci and Lisa Parker for two years of service.

Nursing Home Week festivities came to a finale with pie eating and throwing contests where staff had the opportunity to donate to the Resident’s Council Fund for the opportunity to throw a pie at several Parkway Managers. Over $370 was raised while residents, staff and guests enjoyed the comradery and sportsmanship of the Parkway Managers.
