Picture Enfield - Then and Now
An old photograph and story from Enfield history and how that site appears today, plus a trivia question about the town.

ENFIELD, CT — Today's installment of this weekly Enfield history series, courtesy of the Facebook group Picture Enfield, features Tiny's Restaurant, a fixture for many years at the corner of Pleasant and Whitworth streets in Thompsonville.
Owned and operated by Frank "Tiny" Lombardo Sr., the place was a staple for decades before closing in the early 1980s. One former Enfield police officer said in the establishment's waning days, "that place was nuts. Brawls all the time." Hopefully our readers will provide other, more fond memories of Tiny's.
The plot of land on which Tiny's sat has been vacant for some time. Here is a more contemporary look at the property, courtesy of Google Maps.

Last week's trivia answer:
Last week's trivia question was, "What was the occupation of Thomas Alcorn, and why is the former elementary school on Enfield Street named for him?" The answer: he was a doctor, and he donated the land on which the school was built. The building served as Enfield High School until the current location was constructed in 1962. It was known for a number of years as Enfield Intermediate School, and later became the Thomas Alcorn Elementary School until 2011. It now serves as home to the Enfield Public Schools administrative offices.

This week's trivia question:
Easiest trivia question of all time, in three parts: what family-owned establishment became noted for its weekly "Nickel Night" promotion, on what night of the week was it offered, and what was the wonderful community-minded family which owned and operated the place? Post the answer in the comments section below, or on the Enfield Patch Facebook page.
