Route 5 to Have Detour in Enfield

Repair work is being done on the Enfield Street bridge over Route 190.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced that a detour will be in place Monday, Aug. 24 into the early morning hours of Aug. 25 for work on the Route 5 bridge over Route 190 in Enfield.

Detours will be set up from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. between Franklin Street and Frew Terrace, as workers remove a section of the existing steel girder and install a new one.

Route 190 westbound will be closed between the off-ramp to Enfield Street and the on-ramp from Pearl Street. Vehicles traveling on Route 190 westbound will be detoured to the off-ramp to Enfield Street (Route 5) to Franklin Street to Pearl Street to the Route 190 westbound on-ramp from Pearl Street and merge back onto Route 190 westbound.

Local residents will have access to their residence, and detour signs will be utilized to guide motorists.

In the event of rain, the project will be delayed until the following evening.
