Spring Cleanup Begins in Enfield

The Department of Public Works will begin street sweeping and yard waste pickup this week.

Spring cleanup around Enfield officially begins this week.

The Department of Public Works announced via Twitter on Tuesday, that street sweeping will start on Wednesday, April 8 in the Shaker Pines Lake area.

Then, beginning on Friday, April 10 the DPW will begin yard waste pickup. The department reminds residents that yard waste must be in the yard waste tipper barrels that should be placed curbside by 7 a.m. on Fridays. Bags will not be picked up. Bags will only be picked up in November during leaf season.

The Yard Waste Collection program is for the disposal of organic materials and vegetative debris. Grass clippings, leaves, brush and tree limbs up to 2 inches in diameter are acceptable.

These items are prohibited should not be placed in tipper barrels:

  • Household Trash
  • Plastics of any kind including flower pots
  • Demolition Debris, including any type of lumber
  • Tree limbs or logs greater than 2 inches in diameter.

Prohibited items in yard waste can result in fines and penalties.

If you need tipper barrels, they can be purchased for $60 at the Public Works Department, 40 Moody Rd., 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Residents also have the option to purchase a yard waste tipper tag for $12.50 for gray barrels which may be used in addition to a brown barrel.
