Stash, Cash Intercepted By Enfield Cops

Suspected drug dealers were caught in Enfield after running from authorities in Massachusetts, police said.

ENFIELD, CT — Enfield police confiscated drugs and money from two suspected dealers who were attempting to make an end run around authorities from across the state line in Springfield, according to a report.

At 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, Enfield authorities received a "be on the lookout" transmission from the Springfield Police Department advising that a red Mercedes bearing Connecticut registration plates had fled from officers in the city.

At least one of the occupants reportedly had a gun and had been involved in multiple crimes in Springfield that day, according to a report.

Shortly after 3 p.m., the Mercedes was located by Enfield patrol units unoccupied in Saint Adalbert’s Cemetery, police said.

Officers then tracked the suspects first to the Kohl's Plaza on Elm Street and eventually located them inside the Denny’s restaurant on Elm Street, according to a report.

Officers seized approximately $2,100 in cash, 139.5 grams of crack cocaine, 10 grams of powdered cocaine, and six oxycontin pills.

Manuel Torres, 24, of Springfield, was charged with:

  • Possession of narcotics with intent to sell/distribute
  • Conspiracy to possess narcotics with intent to sell/distribute
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Interfering with police

Police said Torres was held on a $500,000 bond, pending additional charges being applied for by Springfield police in Massachusetts.

Fabien Rosario, 2o, of Springfield, was charged with:

  • Possession of narcotics with intent to sell/distribute
  • Conspiracy to possess narcotics with intent to sell/distribute

Rosario was released on a $15,000 bond, police said.
