Temporary Cooling Shelters Open In Enfield
Several locations around town will be open for residents to get relief from the oppressive heat this week.
ENFIELD, CT — Oppressive heat for the majority of this week has prompted Enfield officials to offer temporary cooling centers to residents.
According to the National Weather Service, high temperatures in Enfield for the next five days are expected to be:
- Wednesday, 91
- Thursday, 77
- Friday, 93
- Saturday, 99
- Sunday, 95
Temporary cooling shelters are available throughout the town at the following locations:

Enfield Senior Center, 299 Elm Street
- Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Wednesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Enfield Public Library, 104 Middle Road

- Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
- Friday - Saturday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Pearl Street Library, 159 Pearl Street
- Monday - Thursday, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
- Friday, noon - 6 p.m.
The Enfield Police Department lobby, 293 Elm Street, is available as a cooling center 24 hours a day. Additionally, residents can call 211 for live shelter availability.
