Throwback Thursday: Do You Remember...?
A photo and story of a landmark from Enfield's past.

ENFIELD, CT - In this weekly series, Enfield Patch publishes a photo of a business or landmark in town that is no longer in existence.
Today's photo shows a train crossing over the Scantic River near the former Springborn Laboratories on Route 190 near Broad Brook Road in the Scitico section of Enfield.
The Central New England Railroad Armory Freight-Line Railway was taken out of service around 1990, and the line has deteriorated significantly over the past quarter-century. Town officials discussed re-establishing the railway around 2010, but no plans ever came to fruition.

In Enfield, from the south, the rail line crosses Broad Brook Road, Abbe Road, Hazard Avenue, North Street, Moody Road and Shaker Road, winding between the Hallmark Cards plant and Crescent Lake before contuing into Massachusetts.
