Two People Stabbed in Fight Outside Enfield Restaurant

A Massachusetts man is being held on $200,000 bond after the incident early Sunday morning.

ENFIELD, CT - Two people were injured, one seriously, as a result of being stabbed during a fight in a restaurant parking lot early Sunday morning.

Hugo Salazar-Najera, 40, of Springfield, Mass., was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault causing serious physical injury with a weapon, carrying a dangerous weapon and second-degree breach of peace. Bond was set at $200,000.

A second Springfield man, Mauricio Ayala, 22, was charged with third-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace. His bond was set at $5,000.

Deputy Police Chief Gary Collins said the incident took place around 2 a.m. in the parking lot of Silvia's Restaurant on North Main Street, where an argument escalated into a physical fight.

According to witnesses, Ayala started the fight, but Salazar-Najera brandished a knife and stabbed two people. One victim received serious stab wounds to the torso, while the other suffered a slashing-type wound to the arm, Collins said.

Both victims were transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield; Collins did not have an update on their conditions.
