Vernon Cops: Enfield Man Charged After Loud Muffler Catches Officer's Attention in 'Drug Trafficking Area'
The man is due in court this week.

VERNON, CT - A loud muffler on a funky car drew the attention of police and an Enfield man is now due in court this week on drug charges after a traffic stop, according to an arrest report.
David Kellam, 45, of North Maple Street, Enfield, was charged on July 9 with narcotics possession, the use of drug paraphernalia and an improper muffler, Vernon police said. He is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court on July 19, according to judicial system records.
According to an arrest report, an officer on traffic patrol along Hartford Turnpike - the local name for the Route 30, noticed a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser pull out of the Days Inn with an "extremely loud muffler." Police said the motel is "a known high drug-trafficking area."

The car was pulled over, Kellam granted consent to search it, and police found 1.5 grams of crack cocaine, a crack pipe, and other drug paraphernalia, according to an arrest report.
