Woman Bitten By Animal At State Park In Enfield: PD
The hiker was attacked by either a coyote or fox Sunday morning, according to police.

ENFIELD, CT — A woman hiking in the Scantic River Park West was attacked by an animal Sunday morning, prompting closure of the entrance as police, animal control officers and officials of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection conducted an investigation.
The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m., and the woman suffered significant bites. She was treated and released at a local hospital, Police Chief Alaric Fox said.
The animal is believed to be a coyote or fox, Fox said.

DEEP unsuccessfully searched the area for the animal. The victim was brought back to the site to identify where she heard the noise, thinking that might be the den, Fox said.
The DEEP continues to investigate the incident. Police advise anyone planning on hiking in the park to be cautious. Any sightings of an aggressive animal in the park should be reported to DEEP at 860-424-3333.
