Chester House Fire On Sunday Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Hospitalized
A house fire broke out Sunday morning in Chester. Two were in stable condition at Middlesex Hospital. A third died shortly after arrival.
CHESTER, CT — One person died and two were hospitalized after a Chester home caught fire Sunday morning, officials said.
The blaze broke out around 9:30 a.m. Sunday at 27 Ridge Rd. Several people were inside the home at the time of the fire, Chester Hose Company Chief James Grzybowski said. Three were taken to the hospital. Two were in stable condition. A third person died shortly after arriving. The name of that person wasn't immediately released.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, Grzybowski said. Both the local and state fire marshals were at the scene.

Chester Hose company received mutual aid in fighting the fire from the neighboring fire departments of Essex, Deep River, Haddam and Killingworth. In addition, Old Saybrook Fire Department and Clinton Fire Department were on the scene acting as rapid intervention teams (lifelines for the firefighters who entered the fire).
One dog and one cat also died in the fire.

Chief Grzybowski told WTNH News 8 “hoarding was an issue."
The home is no longer habitable.
