Deep River Ditching The Cloud
Problems abound with the Cloud-based server in the Deep River Assessor's and Tax Collector's offices.
DEEP RIVER, CT — At a recent Deep River Board of Finance meeting, First Selectman Angus McDonald noted a request from the assessor and tax collector concerning the current cloud-based server and problems with the service throughout the year. The request was to return to a server in the office. Reportedly, proposals have been sought of approximately $10,500 to purchase a server.
A recommendation was made to use the remainder of pre-funded re-valuation funds, as well as funds from the tax collector’s budget, to purchase a server, with consideration to allow the purchase to go forward with adjustments to the budget, as needed, at the end of the fiscal year if necessary.

The general consensus of the BOF was to pursue the purchase. So, the server has been purchased according to McDonald, and it will be installed within the next few weeks.
