Deep River Receives Covid-19 Relief Money
The Town of Deep River received funds from FEMA and the State of Connecticut Corona Relief Fund (CRF) as part of a COVID-19 relief Fund.
DEEP RIVER, CT — According to the minutes for the December 22, Deep River Board of Selectman meeting, First Selectman Angus McDonald stated at that meeting, that the Town of Deep River received $4,344 from FEMA and $9,720 from the State of Connecticut Corona Relief Fund (CRF) as part of a COVID-19 relief package to cover COVID-19 expenses.
The money received covered additional cleaning expenses as well as Plexiglas shields installed at office doors and/or desks, assorted PPE, additional personnel for summer camps and other unbudgeted expenses incurred in efforts to slow the spread of COVID19. Selectman Duane Gates asked if more money will be received for July through December? McDonald stated yes. Gates also asked if the money received will go to the general fund or to specific line items. McDonald stated that rather than going to the Board of Finance for a special appropriation, the money will go to the general fund under specific line items titled “COVID-19 Expenditures” and “COVID-19 Revenues.”
