EHS Plans 'Stuff the Wagon!' Drive-In Food Drive For Saturday
Donations at the Dec. 19 event will support the Shoreline Soup Kitchen & Pantries.
Press release from Essex Historical Society:
Dec. 18, 2020
As the unusual year 2020 draws to a close, Essex Historical Society asks you to help them support the wider community with two projects. The first is a "Drive-In" Food Drive to support the Shoreline Soup Kitchen & Pantries, Dec. 19, noon – 3pm at Pratt House, 19 West Avenue, Essex. Please help us “stuff” the beautiful 19th century wagon that sits outside the historic 1732 Pratt House! EHS appreciates the community's response during this season of giving as the need for nutritious food continues to grow during this pandemic.

The Food Pantries are most in need of: oatmeal, breakfast cereal, juice or juice boxes, spaghetti sauce, shelf-stable milk, canned fruit, canned tuna or salmon, canned beef, chicken or turkey, peanut butter, meal-in-a-can, canned beans, dried beans or legumes, cake, muffin or pancake mix, dried fruits or nuts. All non-perishable food will be welcomed!
To ensure social distancing or even contact-less drop-offs, participants are welcome to “Drive-In” to Pratt House’s large lawn, drop off their donations themselves or have the EHS team remove it from the trunk of your car. Appointments for porch pickups can also be arranged with 24-hour notice please. For more information, please contact ehs@essexhistory.org (mailto:ehs@essexhistory.org) or call 860-767-0681.

EHS thanks Ralph Hermann of Antique Auto Services for the loan of his historic wagon.
The second way you can help support our community is through renewing your EHS membership for 2021. Your EHS membership supports our volunteers, Board and staff as we bring history into virtual classrooms for in-school students and remote learners. Last week, EHS Director Melissa Josefiak led a virtual classroom program for the entire Fourth Grade of Essex Elementary School in support of their Social Studies curriculum on local history. Your membership helps support the research, development and teaching of that program and the ones to follow. Please consider joining EHS as a member or renewing your 2021 membership today through the membership mailing you received or online,

From all of us at EHS, thank you in advance!
