Essex Board Of Selectmen Talk Trash
Propelling the town forward and into the future, the Essex Board of Selectmen were happy to discuss new Town Transfer Station initiatives.
ESSEX, CT — The subject of trash was a main point of discussion at the recent town of Essex, Board of Selectman meeting. With landfill costs on the rise, the Board was happy to discuss some new initiatives that will be rolling out soon at the Essex Transfer Station including the collection of food waste to compost. Items such as meat, bones, shellfish & seafood, eggshells, fruits and vegetable scraps, breads and cereals, ground coffee and tea bags, will now be accepted. Blue Earth will be providing a bin for the food waste.
In addition, the Transfer Station will have a collection bin for old smoke detectors (which are slightly radioactive and contain a little bit of uranium and mercury) and a propane tank collection bin. The Town also collects old batteries.
The Essex Transfer Station will now provide the following recycling services
