The Griswold Inn Closed For Easter Due To Positive Covid-19 Case
After an employee at the Griswold Inn tested positive for Covid-19, it closed for the Easter holiday and canceled 350 reservations.

ESSEX, CT — The Griswold Inn had to close its doors unexpectedly on Easter Sunday after finding out that an employee had tested positive for Covid-19. This shutdown marks the sixth small business in the tri-town area, over the past few weeks, that has had to close due to Covid-health concerns.
The other five businesses were; Deep River Roasters in Centerbrook, Simons in Chester, Moravellas in Chester, Scotch Plains Tavern in Essex and The Black Seal in Essex. All of these businesses opened after the appropriate health safety measures were taken and quarantine times passed.
However, none of the other shutdowns happened on a major holiday.

According to a News 8 WTNH story, the Griswold Inn had 350 reservations for the Easter holiday, all of which had to be canceled after a wait staff member tested positive for Covid-19. Food was packed up to go and everything was on the house, the story reported, however, not everyone was able to be reached and some customers still showed up to the restaurant with expectations of sharing a special holiday meal with friends and family.
“We did have some people show up but I have to say they were all very gracious; everyone understands these are the times we live in. People, while disappointed, just simply offered us their support. They were grateful for the food to go and promised to be back next year," said the owner of the Griswold Inn, Geoff Paul to Dennis House of News 8 WTNH.
