May 1st Deadline For Essex Indoor Golf Scholarship

ESSEX, CHESTER, DEEP RIVER, CT — The deadline for the Essex Indoor Golf Scholarship is May 1st so get your applications in now.

According to a press release, the Essex Indoor Golf Center is offering a $1000 college scholarship in support of local high school Golf Team members pursuing higher education opportunities. High school Golf Team seniors who reside in the Connecticut towns of Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Essex, Lyme, Madison, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, or Westbrook, and are currently enrolled in either a public or private high school are eligible and encouraged to apply. Essex Indoor Golf Center owners Cheryl and Scott Harger raised their family and have resided in the Ivoryton section of Essex for more than 20 years. “Opening a new business in the midst of a pandemic was never in the plans,” said Cheryl in a prepared statement. “But the Shoreline community has been so supportive and encouraging we wanted to do something to give a little back.”

Scott added (in a prepared statement) “As a small team sport, golf is often overlooked when scholarships are given out. As a coach, I've seen how golf teaches players integrity and life skills.”
