Here are the top three stories today in Essex-Chester-Deep River:

  1. The Region #4 Board of Education will be holding a special district meeting on Thursday, April 7 at 7 p.m. at the John Winthrop Middle School Library. The purpose of the meeting is to: approve the conveyance of what is commonly referred to as the "Falls Landing Road Property;" approve the Purchase and Sale Agreement (Undeveloped Land) by and between Regional School District No. 4 and Jay Cruickshank and Lori Cruickshank; authorize the Chairperson of the Board of Education and the Superintendent of Regional School District No. 4 to take all actions necessary and proper to complete the sale of the Falls Landing Road Property. 2. The Chester-Hadlyme Ferry is officially in service. After the opening day was delayed due to maintenance, the ferry made its seasonal maiden journey across the Connecticut River on Saturday and is now running on schedule. The iconic local ferry is one of the oldest in the country. Come take a ride! CT Insider)
  3. The lower Connecticut River is for some, a fishermen's paradise. This spring season, the early season striped bass and bluefish in coves and rocky shorelines are making for some good fishing. Striped bass and bluefish, during the spring months, sometimes swim four miles, or even more, upriver to the lower part of the Connecticut River to feed. So get your rods and reels out and get fishing! (Sport Fishing)

Where should you invest as an Essex-Chester-Deep River resident with a $149,000 nest egg? Thanks to a change in the legal code, there's a new investment Essex-Chester-Deep River residents need to know about. In fact, Bloomberg asked experts where they'd invest $100,000 right now and many of them chose it.

This may surprise you, but it's fine art.

Growing your nest egg with art isn't new. Wealthy families like the Rockefellers have done it for centuries.

Here's why:

  • Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
  • Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
  • Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)

Translation: Art could be one of the best investments for uncertain times.

Luckily for you, we found Masterworks. This revolutionary platform lets you invest in art by Warhol, Monet, Picasso without spending millions.

The best part? Anyone from your area can skip their waitlist*.
