Parents Express Concern About High School Covid-19 Cases
Concerned parents have taken to Facebook to voice their concerns surrounding more Covid-19 positive cases this week at VRHS.
ESSEX, CHESTER, DEEP RIVER, CT — Following the announcement on Thursday, January 14, of another positive Covid-19 case at Valley Regional High School, which impacted a total of 65 people, 56 students and 9 staff members, parents took to Facebook to voice their concerns.
“I genuinely cannot understand why they insist on keeping on re-opening the schools over and over and over again every two weeks seems like they shut down why the hell don’t they just close down permanently until further notice such as when the vaccine is widely available,” wrote one concerned parent.
Another wrote, “At the very least a hybrid model...flip-flopping constantly seems very disruptive. My sophomore is fully remote and doing great!"

Others explained how their children are also fully remote and staying that way until further notice, "My senior will not be back. No judgment. He has a plan for after H.S...so we are taking him out of the equation. It sucks, but it's best for our family! I still can't guarantee Covid safety as the rest of us must work. Stay healthy everyone!!"
Still, other parents explained that their children got Covid-19 even though they are remote learning.

"And yet, my kids are 100% virtual and still got Covid. It’s madness," wrote one parent.
The uncertainty of this virus and the havoc it is causing in the day to lives of people all over the world is becoming more and more of a struggle. Tri-town community, how do you think our schools should be learning right now, fully in-person? Fully remote? Or back to the hybrid model? We would love to hear your opinions.
