ESSEX, CT — With a forecast for clear sunny skies, mother and daughter pilot team Arianna and Laurie Strand gassed up their RV12 plane early Thursday morning, loaded up their precious cargo, including Arvy, the young Brown Pelican and set off from Markham Municipal Airport in Meriden to transport the displaced bird to its natural habitat of warm southern weather.

According to A Place Called Hope, (which is where Arvy spent some time rehabbing while in Connecticut) as of noon on Thursday, the trio was reportedly flying over Mrytle Beach, South Carolina and all was fine.

The final destination is Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter, Florida.
