Ride A Historic Vessel In Chester
The Chester Hadlyme Ferry season is open now through November 30th.

CHESTER, CT — For over two hundred years the Chester Hadlyme Ferry has provided public transportation at the same site, across the Connecticut River to and from the towns of Chester and Hadlyme.
The historic vessel has a noteworthy past and was used throughout the Revolutionary War to transport supplies across the River. This celebrated, self-propelled, open craft, is the second-oldest continuously operated ferry service in the state. It has been designated a state historical landmark, can carry eight to nine cars and up to 49 passengers and provides a link between two of Connecticut's most notable tourist attractions, the Essex Steam Train (which runs between Essex and Chester) and the iconic Gillette's Castle located in Hadlyme.
The Ferry season runs from April 1 to November 30th. One-way fare is $5 a car on weekdays and $6 on weekends. Pedestrians and bikes are $2. A discount coupon book is available for $60. Hours are Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
