Statewide Covid-19 Vaccine Update From Chester
Great strides are being made in Chester and throughout the state to ensure that residents over 75 years-old are getting vaccinated.
ESSEX, CHESTER, DEEP RIVER, CT — According to the town-wide e-mail sent out to Chester residents, by the first selectwoman and the town, more than 500,000 have been administered statewide and 56 percent of residents 75 and older have been vaccinated.
As of Monday, February 8, Connecticut has administered 517,081 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 387,174 people, more than 10 percent of the state’s population, have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 129,907 people have received their second dose, giving them increased protection against COVID-19. Connecticut retains its rank of fourth in the nation for vaccination compared to state population, with now 56 percent of individuals 75 years or older receiving their vaccinations. The state’s current objectives are to ensure seniors in cities with high social vulnerability receive shots and to prepare for the imminent expansion of vaccine dose availability to those 65 or older.
