Who Wants To Go On A Hike With The Essex Land Trust?
The Essex Land Trust is hosting a Vernal Pools and Emerging Life hike led by Bob Russo, ecologist and Ivoryton resident.
ESSEX, CT — The Essex Land Trust is hosting a Vernal Pools and Emerging Life hike in the Preserve on Saturday, March 27th at 10 a.m. The hike will be led by Bob Russo, ecologist and Ivoryton resident.
Once again Russo will be hiking in the Preserve to help you search for salamanders, frogs and plants emerging from the long winter. He will describe the biological and geological features that make the vernal pool areas unique and bountiful.
The hike is expected to be approximately 1½ hours long, covering easy to moderate terrain. Bring tall waterproof boots and nets if you have them. Open to all ages. Bad weather cancels.

Bob Russo is a soil scientist, wetland scientist and ecologist who frequently played in swamps while growing up. Meet at The Preserve East entrance parking lot, off of Ingham Road.
