FAIRFIELD, CT — The Bob's Store on the Post Road in Fairfield is slated to close early next year, but the company is not pulling up stakes in the town.

Though a definitive spot has not been determined, Bob's is planning to open a new location in Fairfield, Hearst Media reported.

The company that owns Bob's and Eastern Mountain Sports is doing something similar in Norwalk, where it is closing the Bob's on Route 7, but will open a new store in the former Bed, Bath & Beyond on Westport Avenue in the near future.

Patch reached out for comment from Kevin Campbell, executive vice president of operations for Bob's and EMS, but did not immediately receive a reply.

Though the new Fairfield site has not been finalized, Bob's reportedly could move into the former Bed, Bath & Beyond that recently closed, which is not far from the soon-to-be old site.

Mark Barnhart, Fairfield's Director of Economic & Community Development, told Patch that he's pleased that Bob's is sticking around.

"We’re always available to assist if needed, but it sounds as if they have a location in mind, and I don’t foresee any issues with the site being discussed," Barnhart said of the possible move into the old Bed, Bath & Beyond. "As you know, there are not that many sites that can accommodate a 35,000-square-foot retail user. Bob’s has proven very resilient and a popular shopping destination; so glad that they will continue to serve the Fairfield community."
