Christopher Andrews Acted 'Possessed' in Fairfield Tragedy: Report

A new report reveals details of the morning that Andrews was fatally shot by a Fairfield police officer after allegedly attacking his family

FAIRFIELD, CT – An apparently despondent Christopher Andrews cut his wrist and stabbed himself in the neck with a knife after he allegedly beat and stabbed his wife and children on the morning he was shot and killed by a Fairfield police officer, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Post reports Andrews’ 15-year-old son told police during a 911 call that his father was acting “possessed” and had never acted that way before.

The initial 911 call that morning came from the Andrews’ 13-year-old daughter, who was awakened by screams and had fled the house barefoot and was hiding behind a fence, according to the Post.

Fairfield police responded to the Mountain Laurel Home just before 6 a.m. on Feb. 16 due to an “extremely violent situation” in which the family members sustained significant injuries in the incident, according to initial police reports.

Christopher Andrews was fatally shot by Officer Sean Fenton in the driveway after police said he failed to comply with orders to drop his weapon, which was reportedly a knife.

The family members sustained a variety of blunt trauma injuries and stab wounds during the assault.

Kathleen Andrews, 50, who had been listed in critical condition following the assault, was released from the hospital on Feb. 22 and said in a statement at the time that Christopher was an “incredible husband, father and friend and deserves to be remembered as such.”

The couple’s youngest child, who police found in the master bedroom with Kathleen Andrews on the morning of the attack, according to the Post, was also listed in critical condition but was recently transferred to a rehabilitation facility as he recovers from his injuries.
