Details Emerge of Arrest Hours Before Man, Sister Died in Crash: Report

A man was arrested on DUI charges in Norwalk hours before he died, along with his sister, when a car he was driving crashed in Fairfield.

NORWALK, CT — Details have emerged in the arrest of Brandon Dupee in Norwalk about six hours before he died in a crash, along with his sister Lindsay Dupee, when the car he was driving crashed into trees at a high rate of speed after exiting I-95 in Fairfield early Wednesday morning.

The Fairfield Daily Voice reports that a police chief from Maine, who was in Norwalk as part of a Wreaths Across America convoy, suspected that Dupee might be driving under the influence and alerted a state trooper.

A traffic stop was initiated, and Norwalk Police were called to the scene where Dupee failed a field sobriety test and marijuana was found in the car, according to the Norwalk Hour.

Dupee, 33, was arrested around 7:20 p.m., refused to submit to a breathalyzer test at police headquarters and was bonded out by a bondsman at 12:25 a.m., according to The Hour. The bondsman was accompanied by a woman who was believed to be Lindsay Dupee.

The Daily Voice reports that Brandon Dupee’s license remained with police and his vehicle was seized and towed.

The fatal accident occurred at 1:47 a.m. on Sunfield Lane off Exit 21 on I-95 North, and Lindsay Dupee, 31, was the passenger.

WTNH News 8 reports the siblings were pronounced dead at the scene.

Brandon Dupee recently moved to Bridgeport where he lived in a condo with his mother, while Lindsay Dupee lived in Stratford, according to the Connecticut Post. The siblings grew up in Norwalk.

The Post reports that Brandon Dupee had shared a $1 million lottery prize with a 90-year-old neighbor in 2011 after he had asked his longtime neighbor to go in on a Fourth of July lottery ticket with him.
