Search Ends For Possible Missing Swimmer in Fairfield

Authorities believe that no one was actually missing despite initial reports that a boy may have been lost in the water.

Fairfield police called off a search for a possible missing swimmer at Lake Mohegan on Friday evening.

Police Chief Gary MacNamara said on Twitter, at about 6:30 p.m., that officials were “clearing the scene at Lake Mohegan as a search did not indicate anyone in the water and no reports of anyone missing.”

MacNamara earlier said that a “search of the lake on the surface and with divers have yet to locate anyone. There is no indication that anyone is missing.”
