Ex-Fairfield RTM Member Ray Neuberger Arrested Again

Neuberger, who is already facing animal cruelty charges, is accused of sending threatening texts to police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Raymond Neuberger, the former Fairfield Representative Town Meeting member already facing animal cruelty charges, was arrested for the third time in less than a year on Monday, this time accused of sending "threatening and harassing text messages" to police.

Neuberger was arrested on a warrant at his parents' home in Easton, and was charged with second-degree threatening and second-degree harassment. He was released after posting bond on bail of $5,000.

According to Fairfield police, Neuberger sent several threatening texts, but the exact number of texts, and what they said, were not disclosed. A Fairfield police spokesperson did not immediately reply to questions from Patch.

"The Fairfield Police remain committed to upholding the law and will not tolerate any threat including to our law enforcement officers," said Chief Robert Kalamaras in a statement. "We will hold those responsible to the fullest extent of the law."

Neuberger was arrested in February, accused of torturing a cat, and he was arrested on similar charges this past October.

In the October case, Neuberger was accused of dousing a cat with bleach and beating it. The cat succumbed to the injuries.

He also reportedly served some time in jail in 2018 in connection with a case in which he was accused of abusing two dogs, wrote the Connecticut Post.

Neuberger served on the Fairfield RTM from 2013 to 2017. He is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on March 15.

The cases involving the February and October arrests are still pending.
