Fairfield 12U Softball Team Rolls On In Regionals
The state champion Fairfield Little League Girls Softball 12U All-Star team staved off elimination with a win over New York on Tuesday.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield Little League Girls Softball 12U All-Star team staved off elimination with an 8-5 victory over New York in the East Regionals Tuesday in Bristol. After winning the Connecticut state championships, Fairfield proceeded to go 2-0 in its first two games in the regional tournament in Bristol. Fairfield walked off with a 2-1 win over New Jersey and then defeated Maine 6-1.
Fairfield lost its first game of the postseason with a loss to a talented Pennsylvania All-Star team, 3-2 (11-1) on Tuesday. The team had only hours to regroup and face New York in an elimination game. Things didn’t look good early with New York taking a 2-0 lead after one inning.
But, the girls weren’t ready to leave Bristol and scored eight unanswered runs before settling for an 8-5 victory. The game was highlighted by Kira Fazio's determined pitching performance, Della Jackson's speed pressuring the defense, and Chelsea Villar's monster triple.

Fairfield was scheduled to play the winner of Tuesday night’s Maine / Delaware game at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Fairfield is guaranteed a final four standing in the East Region and if they win the East they will be off to Portland, Oregon for the World Series.
UPDATE: Fairfield Softball is in the final 4, but was rained out on Wednesday. Fairfield takes on Delaware Thursday at 4 p.m. in Bristol at the Giamatti Little League Training center 335 Mix Street in Bristol.
