Fairfield American Little League Wins State Title
Fairfield won the state championship in thrilling fashion and advances to the New England Regional tournament.

FAIRFIELD, CT — The Fairfield American Little League team held off a furious comeback by Newington to win the state championship with a thrilling 6-4 victory Monday in Guilford, the Connecticut Post reports.
Fairfield American, which claimed its second straight state title with the win, begins play in the New England Regional tournament on Monday, Aug. 7, according to the Post. Fairfield American jumped out to a 5-0 lead on the strength of home runs by Troy Ashkinos and Ethan Righter (a three-run shot). Tyler Bauer earned the win on the mound while Matt Vivona closed it out for the save.
