Fairfield American Staves Off Elimination in Little League Regional Tournament
Fairfield beats Maine, advances to a rematch with New Hampshire in the New England Regional.

FAIRFIELD, CT — With their backs against the wall, the Fairfield American Little League team survived an elimination game in the New England Regional and advanced to a rematch with New Hampshire on the strength of an 8-2 victory over Scarborough, Maine on Tuesday.
Fairfield American, which opened the tournament with a 7-1 loss to New Hampshire, will have a chance at revenge in an elimination game (for both teams) at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Breen Field in Bristol.
Fairfield American broke the game open against Maine with five runs in the third inning, including a clutch two-run triple from Ryan McIntosh, according to the Connecticut Post.

Ben Gaffney added a solo home run in the fourth, while Matt Longo earned the win on the mound for Fairfield American.
