Fairfield Coronavirus Update: 18 Deaths, 220 Confirmed Cases

The number of virus-associated deaths in town has more than doubled in the past four days​.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A total of 18 Fairfield residents were reported to have died after contracting the new coronavirus as of Wednesday, according to the first selectwoman — a day-over-day increase of six fatalities. The number of virus-associated deaths in town has more than doubled in the past four days.

As of Wednesday, there were 220 confirmed cases of the virus in Fairfield, First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick said in a Facebook post, noting 70 residents were reporting they had recovered.

Across Connecticut as of Wednesday, there were 14,755 total confirmed cases, 868 of which had resulted in a patient death, according to state data — an increase day-over-day of 766 cases and 197 fatalities.
