Fairfield House Fire May Be Related To Flooding From Storm Elsa

"We do believe it's possibly related to the storm situation yesterday," a Fairfield fire official said of the blaze Saturday.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Firefighters responded to a house fire Saturday in Fairfield.

Emergency personnel rushed to the scene just before 7 a.m. and found heavy smoke in the basement of a house on Fairchild Avenue, according to Assistant Chief Schuyler Sherwood. Firefighters used multiple water lines to extinguish the blaze quickly, and no one was injured, Sherwood said.

“We do believe it’s possibly related to the storm situation yesterday,” Sherwood said, adding a battery-powered tool at the home was exposed to flooding.
