After she realized that her wallet was missing, the woman called Whole Foods to ask if anyone had turned in the wallet, but no luck.

Luckily for her, however, the girlfriend of Bridgeport Police Officer Kevin Cronin found the wallet in the store’s parking lot — still containing all the money.

According to Fairfield police, she called Cronin and he brought the wallet to Fairfield police headquarters.

Using personal identification in the wallet, Fairfield police were able to track down the wallet’s owner.

“I believe this speaks to the character of our police officers in Bridgeport,” Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch said in a statement. “Every day, they work hard keeping our kids and families safe. I was extremely grateful but not remotely surprised when I heard that Officer Cronin brought the wallet to the Fairfield Police Department.”

Bridgeport Police Chief Joseph L. Gaudett Jr. commended Cronin and said he is “a good man who did the right thing without a second thought. I’m proud to call him a colleague on the Bridgeport Police Department.”
