Fairfield Prep's Oliver Rus commits to UVA Swimming
Prep Senior signs letter to swim Division 1 at University of Virginia

Fairfield Prep senior and swim team captain Oliver Rus recently signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his swimming career at the University of Virginia. Rus, who is a Norwalk native has had one of the most decorated swim careers at Prep through his first three years on the team. This past season he was named All- American, All-State, All-SCC and State Open Champion in three events: 100 Breaststroke, 100 Freestyle and 200 Medley Relay. In addition, he set the State Open record in the 100 Breaststroke and set a school record in the 100 Breaststroke and 200 Medley Relay. In 2016, Rus was also named All State in 100 Breaststroke and 200 Medley Relay. In addition to his accomplishments for the Fairfield Prep swim team, Rus also swims for the Darien YMCA Piranha Swim team where he was the 2017 USA Swimming Northeast Sectional Champion in the 100 Breaststroke. Outside of the pool, Rus volunteers at the Waveny Care Center where he works with senior citizens and also volunteers at the Darien YMCA Special Needs Program. At Prep, Rus is an Alter Server in the Prep Campus Ministry program and also plays the drums and sings in the choir at the St Phillip Church.
