Fairfield RTC Announces Caucus Date for Probate Judge Nomination

Fairfield, CT – May 18, 2024, Under Governor Ned Lamont's orders, a special and state election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, for the election of a Probate Judge to complete the term of the Fairfield Probate Judge who will be retiring over the next year. This special election will coincide with the next general election.

The Fairfield Republican Town Committee (RTC) will hold a Caucus to nominate a candidate for Probate Judge, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in the Fairfield Ludlowe High School Cafeteria, 785 Unquowa Road, Fairfield, CT, at 7:30 pm. Entrance/Parking in the rear of the building. Members of the RTC will vote on the nominations.

According to a release from the Governor’s Office, the governor specifically chose to hold these special elections on the same date as the next general election because doing so will enable municipalities to avoid any added costs of holding separate elections for this purpose.

Probate judges in Connecticut serve four-year terms. The winner of the special election will begin serving from the date of the current officeholder’s retirement, January 4, 2025, through the end of their current term, January 6, 2027.
