Fairfield RTM Member Announces Board of Finance Candidacy

The following announcement is from Bob Ellwanger, a District 3 Representative on the Fairfield Representative Town Meeting:

I am running for a six-year term on the town of Fairfield’s Board of Finance this November, because with decades of financial and leadership experience, I know I can provide highly capable and fiscally responsible oversight of Fairfield’s financial affairs. I am committed to keeping Fairfield affordable, with well-managed budgets and fiscal restraint while keeping taxes as low as possible for families and seniors. As a guardian of the tax dollars of all residents, I will ensure that financial decisions are strategic, informed, and transparent.

As a seasoned financial services professional, 57-year Fairfield resident, and with over a decade of community service, I have experienced firsthand how thoughtful, transparent financial planning can make all the difference. That’s what I want to bring to the Board of Finance – smart decisions vs. short-term fixes.

Fairfield is a town with a proud tradition: excellent schools, strong neighborhoods, and a deep sense of community pride. I also know that we face real challenges, like rising costs, aging infrastructure and the pressure to balance services with affordability, especially for young families and seniors.

So, here’s what I stand for:

• Transparency in how we spend taxpayer dollars;
• Accountability in evaluating town projects and debt; and
• Efficiency in how we support schools, public safety, and infrastructure without passing unnecessary burdens onto residents.

Once elected, I will ask hard questions, insist on clear answers, and make sure that every dollar is spent with purpose. This is your town, and your voice should be at the table. I hope to earn your support in November. Together, let’s keep Fairfield strong, sustainable, and affordable. Thank you.
