Fairfield University To Co-Host CT Gubernatorial Debates

FAIRFIELD, CT — (From Fairfield University): WICC600, in partnership with Fairfield University, will host a live Republican Gubernatorial Primary Debate on Wednesday July 18 at 7 p.m. in the Barone Campus Center. Confirmed participating candidates include Steve Obsitnik, Tim Herbst, and David Stemerman. The debate, to be broadcast live on WICC600 and WICC600.com, is closed to the public but open to the press. Plans for a Democratic debate are TBD.

Moderator Mike Bellamy co-host of WICC600’s Tony & Mike in the Morning, will be joined on the debate panel by Gayle Alberda, PhD, Assistant Professor of Politics and Public Administration at Fairfield University, and Gary L. Rose, PhD, professor and chair in the Department of Government, Politics and Global Studies at Sacred Heart University.

Additionally, in partnership with the Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges (CCIC), Connecticut Public Radio, and the Connecticut Mirror, Fairfield University will host one of the final gubernatorial forums on Aug. 6, before the state’s primary election. The Aug. 6 debate is open to the public and will be held in the Quick Center for the Arts. John Dankosky of Connecticut Public Radio (WNPR) will serve as the moderator. Ticket information will be released soon.
