Fairfield University Students Launch Online Petition on Clam Jam Clampdown
Underclassmen are urging that the end-of-year celebration be open to all students.

In case you missed it from earlier this week:
Frustrated by a clampdown on the number of available tickets to the annual Clam Jam end-of-year celebration, Fairfield University underclassmen launched an online petitionthat has collected more than 600 signatures urging that the party be open to all students.
However, despite their efforts, Thomas Pellegrino, the vice president of student affairs at Fairfield University, tells the Fairfield Citizen that there are “no plans to increase the number of tickets.”

This is the first year that Fairfield University is sponsoring the event, in conjunction with the students’ Beach Resident Advocacy Group (B.R.A.G.), and it will be held for the first time at Penfield Beach along with a series of access and crowd-control rules, according to the Citizen.
While in previous years the celebration drew upwards of 5,000 people from all over (efforts were made to rein in recent years to rein it in), tickets were limited to 1,500 and sold out before freshmen and sophomores had the opportunity to purchase them, according to the Citizen.

In announcing the changes to this year’s party, B.R.A.G. posted on its website that ticket sales began with seniors and juniors, followed by graduate students. It also said that the Clam Jam will be “restricted to those students who have purchased a ticket. Unlike previous years, entry will be strictly prohibited without a ticket and a valid ID/Stag card.”
