Fairfield Warde Falls 1-Run Short in CT High School Baseball Championship

The Mustangs fell to the Amity Regional Spartans Saturday in the Class LL championship.

Woodbridge, CT - The Amity Regional Spartans won a nail-biter Saturday 4-3 over the Fairfield Warde Mustangs to cement the Spartans fourth straight Connecticut Class LL high school baseball championship.

Amity jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning before a rain delay halted play for more than two hours, reports Fox61 News.

Fairfield Warde climbed back into the game with a 3-run fifth inning before Amity sealed it with a walked-in run in the seventh.

In addition to winning a fourth straight title, it was the Spartans' sixth championship since 2006. The team finished the 2016 season an incredible 27-1, reports Gametime CT.
