Fairfield Woman Faces Charges for Crash that Sent Police Chief to Hospital
Police Chief Gary MacNamara was hospitalized following the three-car crash in October.

A Fairfield woman is due in court Jan. 27 to face charges stemming from the October 2014 crash in which she slammed into Police Chief Gary MacNamara’s police cruiser at a traffic light in downtown Fairfield, according to the Fairfield Citizen.
The Citizen reports Annick Winokur, 40, was charged with traveling unreasonably fast, second-degree reckless endangerment and following too closely.
Winokur, who police said has been involved in a strong of auto accidents over the past six years, was driving at about 54 mph when her BMW SUV crashed into MacNamara’s cruiser, according to the Citizen.

The accident occurred Oct. 21 at 9:21 a.m. on Reef Road in front of the Firehouse Deli. During the preliminary investigation, police said Winokur was traveling north on Reef Road and collided with the rear end of MacNamara’s vehicle, who was stationary waiting for the traffic light.
MacNamara’s vehicle was then pushed into a parked vehicle on Reef Road that was occupied. The BMW X3 then continued north on Reef Road and collided into the south side of the building that holds Victoria’s Secret.

MacNamara was transported by AMR Ambulance to the hospital where he stayed overnight for treatment and eventually returned to work on Nov. 6.
Winokur and her 7-month-old child who was also in the car, in addition to the occupant of the parked vehicle, were transported by AMR to Bridgeport Hospital for evaluation.
