Football Player, 19, Dies In Crash After Committing To Sacred Heart U.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Two weeks after reportedly committing to Fairfield's Sacred Heart University, 19-year-old football player Cyrenius "Cy" Menard was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Friday in Saddle River, New Jersey, according to the Daily Voice.
The sedan Menard was driving collided with a tractor-trailer truck southbound on Route 17 at about 11:30 a.m., and Menard was ejected from the vehicle, authorities said.
Menard graduated from St. Joseph's Regional High School in Montvale, NJ, last year, and committed to play at Sacred Heart. The college's football program sent condolences on Twitter.

"We are saddened to learn of Cyrenius’ passing," Head Coach Mark Nofri wrote. "We got to know him very well during the recruiting process and he was a great young man. His family is in our thoughts and prayer. Cy will forever be a member of the SHU football family."
Before enrolling at Sacred Heard, Menard last fall attended the Connecticut prep school St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, reported the Connecticut Post.
