General Electric Announces Planned Job Cuts in Connecticut: Report
GE officials informed Connecticut officials how many jobs are likely to be eliminated as a result of the company's move to Boston.

FAIRFIELD, CT - We knew this day would come once General Electric Co. announced earlier this year that it planned to move its headquarters from Fairfield to Boston beginning this summer.
On Friday, company officials informed Connecticut leaders that GE plans to cut up to 100 jobs in the state, the Hartford Courant reports.
GE officials said some of the cuts are related to the Boston move but a company spokesperson told the Courant that 500-600 jobs currently in Fairfield will move to Norwalk.

GE has been in Fairfield since 1974 but company leaders frustration with tax increases and Massachusetts willingness to offer them $25 million in tax incentives and up to $120 million in grants clinched the move to Boston, according to reports.
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy declined to comment on the latest GE news, the Courant reports.
